My Latest Earworm
Your everlasting summer
You can see it fading fast
So you grab a piece of something
That you think is gonna last
You wouldn't know a diamond
If you held it in your hand
The things you think are precious
I can't understand
Chorus:
Are you reelin' in the years
Stowin' away the time
Are you gatherin' up the tears
Have you had enough of mine
You been tellin' me you're a genius
Since you were seventeen
In all the time I've known you
I still don't know what you mean
The weekend at the college
Didn't turn out like you planned
The things that pass for knowledge
I can't understand
Chorus
I spend a lot of money
And I spent a lot of time
The trip we made in Hollywood
Is etched upon my mind
After all the things we've done and seen
You find another man
The things you think are useless
I can't understand
Chorus

Wow. . . I SO remember this; I was in college when it came out. . .
Oh come on. . . you aren't that much older than me. It was released in 1972. I was in junior high. On second thought maybe you could've been in college, but barely, maybe a freshman. Hmm. . . okay maybe you are old.
Hmmph!
Depending on when in '72 it was released, I was either a junior or senior in HS.
I just remember hearing it on the radio all thru college. . .
See? I knew you weren't that much older than I am.
You and BJ are about the same age, and as I always tell him, no matter how old I get you'll always be older! ;-)
(Hmm, I have a feeling I'll pay for these remarks next month.)
Well, you know what they say about getting old - it's generally considered to be better than the alternative. . .
And, what you say is true. . . so how's 'bout a little respect for yer elders? Hmmmm? ;)
Much better than the alternative. . .
Respect? But what fun would that be? ;-)
