Well, Now It Makes Sense

I couldn't understand why I wasn't being appointed to the U.S. Senate seat left vacant when Obama became president-elect. Given that all I could offer Blago was to bake him a batch of brownies now it all makes sense. Sigh. . .

Politics as usual in the state of Illinois.

It's unbelievable, isn't it? Everywhere you turn, more corrupt politicians. The county I live in ranks right up there too.

Illinois, and the Mayor of Birmingham AL was indicted not long ago as well.

Sadly, the reaction I hear most from people is "Yeah, so, what do you expect from a politician?"

Oh, and if you decide to *run* for the seat, just let me know, okay? Cuz from what I know of politics in IL, I'll be eligible to vote there, even though I don't live there, simply be virtue of being alive. (The only dead people that can vote in IL, apparently, are those that are still resident).

Sounds like the governor's job will be open soon in your state too. You could run for that too, double your chances... ;)

The guy must be crazy...

Cocotte - And we go around feeling all superior to countries without democracy. Doesn't seem like much of a democracy when political positions go to the highest bidder.

Sailor - Yes, that is sad that things are such that people react that way.

Sailor (part 2) - Thanks. I'm sure you've heard the official Illinois motto "Vote early, vote often" so I'd appreciate if you'd cast your vote for me a few times throughout the election, 'kay?

Fuse - Hmm, which do I want? Governor? Senator? Hmm. . .
