Cars 2, Pedestrians 0

A bit more than a year ago I was hit by a car. The car was going pretty slowly in a parking lot so I escaped with minimal damage.

Yesterday, a friend of mine was not so lucky. He was in a crosswalk when he was hit by a car. The woman driving said she didn’t see him because the sun was in her eyes. He is now in the hospital in critical condition.

He and his wife were days away from leaving on a trip overseas. Needless to say, the trip has been canceled.

I am praying (you’re welcome to join me if you’re the praying kind) that he will heal from his injuries and for peace and comfort for his wife and children.

UPDATE:
My friend died this afternoon. I can't tell you how sad I am over this. Please go hug your loved ones and let them know how much they mean to you. You never know when it will be your last chance.

OMG, that is so sad TS.
So senseless too, if the sun was in her eyes, the stupid bitch should have SLOWED down, or shaded her eyes, or maybe used that little invention called a sunvisor...
One life lost and how many more effected because "the sun was in my eyes" (not to mention the driver will have to live with this the rest of her life too).

I'm very sorry for your loss. It's very careless of any driver to operate their car under conditions where they don't have total awareness of the surroundings. I hope she was at least charged by the police for this, or will be soon.

Oh that is so terrible! I'm so sorry for you! I can only imagine it's even more triggering because of your brush with it last year.

My thoughts are with you :(

How sad and senseless. It's scary to see how people do not pay attention when driving and how it can ruin the lives of all involved. I'm sorry for the loss of your friend and his family.

So sorry, Truey. Life is just a bitch, sometimes. I will pray for his family. . .

Thing is, I've been in situations where, all of a sudden, because of the sun, or whatever, my ability to see just vanished, virtually without any warning. Just the other day, a guy dressed in black nearly walked into my car at night. It is scary shit. . .

A buddy of mine just had to retire early (age 56), because he hadn't fully recovered from the headaches and double-vision that came from his being hit by a car two years ago. . .
