Interview Me

Finished Last shared a meme recently where he agreed to be interviewed and posted his answers then asked for others to come forward to subject themselves to the same treatment. Well, I’m just narcissistic enough to know that he wanted me to ask to be interviewed so I did.

So here are FL’s questions with my answers:

1. Who would you consider to be your role model? I would say my biggest role model has been my mother. The reason I answer that way is not because I consider her to be an excellent role model. It’s just that I think she has had the most influence in the direction of my life.

2. What is something you have done that you once swore you would never do? Have an affair. I never ever dreamed I would go behind my husband’s back to have an affair at the time we got married, and for most of the marriage I never did. Then life fell apart and I did something that I considered unthinkable yet inevitable in some way.

3. When was a time that you laughed so hard you though you might get sick? There have been lots of moments like that in my lifetime. Sometimes I get the giggles at the most inopportune, perhaps even inappropriate, times. Often it is something that someone says or does that I might normally chuckle over, but due to some weird crosswaves in the cranium I just lose control. Best example: the first time I saw tumbleweeds. I laughed all the way across the Texas panhandle. And you know what? I’m not really sure what the hell was so funny about those tumbleweeds, but I found them completely hilarious that day.

4. What is something you do when you feel like being indulgent? Chide myself for feeling that way. Then go out and eat a Love It size of some chocolaty mess at Cold Stone Creamery. Then feel guilty for indulging.

5. What is something that people wrongly assume about you? That I’m stuck up and look down on them. In fact, it is the exact opposite. I’m incredibly shy, with low self-esteem (not that anyone would be able to tell that from my blog, ha ha), and if I don’t speak it is for those reasons not that I think others are beneath me. Actually, I think I am beneath them, or at least I assume that they will think so.

Thanks FL. Good questions. Did you learn anything new about me?

Alrighty, anyone else game?

The Rules: Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me.” I respond by asking you five personal questions (I will leave these questions for you in my comments) so I can get to know you better. If I already know you well, expect the questions may be a little more intimate! You WILL update your journal/bloggy thing/whatever with the answers to the questions (please don't leave your answers in my comments unless you don't have a blog). You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Rather a sad little para about your mother! Interview me. Pick me, pick me...

Emily - Yes, I suppose that is a bit sad. Sorry to say, sometimes I think some (not all by any means) of my worst qualities are reflections of her.

On to your questions. Now, I know some of these will seem perhaps difficult and thought provoking, but I give them to you because I know that you are well up to the task. Here goes:

1 - How has having the Little Dude compared to your expectations of motherhood?
2 - What advice would you give to a young woman starting a relationship with a man 20-30 years older than her?
3 - What is the greatest sacrifice you've made in your life and what made it worth making?
4 - What qualities would a blog generally have to attract you and make you a regular reader?
5 - If you had the power to change one, and only one, law what change would you make?

Can't wait for your answers!

BJ - Are you sure? ;-) Alrighty then, here we go.

1 - Besides sex, what is your favorite form of entertainment?
2 - What was the turning point that changed you from the "nice guy" to who you are today?
3 - Have you ever been in a physical fight, and if so, what were the circumstances?
4 - If you were allowed to go back and change one, and only one, decision you made in your life, what would you change?
5 - If you could candidly say anything to someone in your life with no consequences for doing so, what would you say?

Ok, I'm game too. If you can think of something you would like to ask me, I would be happy to have an interview.

Oh good. More victims. . . errrrrr. . . ummm. . . I mean, more participants! Yay! This is fun.

Val –
1 – What advice do you share with pet owners that you are surprised many don’t already know?
2 – What have you accomplished in your life that you didn’t think was possible?
3 – What is the best surprise your husband has ever given you?
4 – If you were dropped off on a deserted island for an unspecified period of time with a trunk full of supplies, what would you hope to find in the trunk?
5 – What would you like people to understand about you that most just don’t seem to “get”?

Karin –
1 – What are your reasons for having a blog and have your reasons changed since you started it?
2 – What would an ideal vacation be for you?
3 – What is the best piece of advice that you would give to a woman contemplating leaving a rocky marriage?
4 – If you could speak with one famous person from the past who would it be and what would you want to discuss with him/her?
5 – If you were given 3 wishes – 1 for yourself, 1 for your husband, and 1 for your children – what would your wishes be?

Anybody else? C’mon, what have you got to lose? Besides your dignity of course. . .

1 - Besides sex, what is your favorite form of entertainment?

Football, high school, college, or NFL

2 - What was the turning point that changed you from the "nice guy" to who you are today?

Getting help for my depression. I was watching "The Sopranos" one night with Dr. Melfi talking about depression being anger focused inward. Those words stuck with me.

3 - Have you ever been in a physical fight, and if so, what were the circumstances?

Not that I can remember. I've steered clear of that. I turned the other cheek as it were.

4 - If you were allowed to go back and change one, and only one, decision you made in your life, what would you change?

The night wife, then livein, asked me what I thought about the future of our relationship. She was giving me an out and I didn't take it. Damn, at the time I honestly had 4 or 5 potential lovers that I spurned to do the right thing. Shit.

5 - If you could candidly say anything to someone in your life with no consequences for doing so, what would you say?

Something to my parents about how I was the one who obeyed them, who said no to all those wicked things like sex and booze while growing up and how I have had a difficult time forgiving myself for doing so and forgiving them for wanting that, while my two sisters were out getting laid before they left for college.

OB - Yikes! For some reason, with you I am at a loss for questions. However, you requested an interview and I shall oblige. Please forgive the lameness of some of the following questions.

1 - What is the most difficult marital issue you and your wife have had to resolve and how did the two of you resolve it?

2 - If you and your wife could go on an all expense paid vacation anywhere in the world where would you go?

3 - What's the most unusual experience you've ever had?

4 - What accomplishment are you most proud of?

5 - Do you have a spare bedroom for me if I come visit to absorb some of your wisdom?

Can't wait to read your answers.+

BJ - Umm, okay, I hate to point this out, but sweetie you didn't read the directions very closely. You're supposed to only post your answers in the comments here if you don't have a blog of your own to post them on. Hmm, I'll have to think of a suitable punishment for you when you visit. ;-)

Then again maybe I was just looking for an excuse to tie you down and beat you. Oops, did I say that out loud?
