Question I’m Pondering

Facts:

A discussion is had between husband and wife prior to wife leaving for work in the morning.
During the discussion it is agreed that husband and wife will lunch together at home that day.
No particular time is specified for lunch, but most days wife arrives home for lunch, if she is lunching at home, somewhere between 12:15 and 12:45 in the afternoon.
When wife arrives just before 12:30 husband is not home.
Wife passes husband going the other way on the road as she returns to work at 1:20.
No calls, emails, or any form of communication were received by wife from husband at any time during the day.

Question:

At what time should husband expect wife to commence instilling great bodily harm on him?

Just curious as to why you care. If I'm getting the right vibes from your blog you don't love him anyway. Just sayin.

WATCH OUT HE MIGHT LIKE IT!!!
But truthfully I would blow it off -- his loss anyway...

Um, at what point does wife stop expecting anything from husband at all? Like Summer said. Why even bother trying? I don't know if you even like him all that much? Why do you want to have lunch with him?

One of the clues i had when i knew my marriage was not going to last was how happy i was when my now-ex was not home for lunch. I looked forward to his absence.

So should i be confused or pleased that you planned to have lunch with him?

Little bit puzzled here too, TS. Not so long ago you were gleefully announcing that you were now going out without having to explain where or with whom. Doesn't that work both ways? OK, I see you did say "During the discussion it is agreed that husband and wife will lunch together at home that day.", so maybe it was a tad impolite.

As clarification, I was wanting to do something other than come home for lunch that day. W whined that he likes it when I come home and so I agreed to do so. For him to then not even be there pissed me off, particularly since I keep trying to find ways to stay with him without being completely miserable. It's just weird that although his words say he wants me around his actions say different. So I ask myself why do I stay? I don't have a good answer to that.

Talk is cheap. Go by his actions, I'd say. Or is he just getting forgetful in his advancing years?

If he's like mine, he "just forgot." Aggravating, but nothing personal.

I was thinking along the same lines as bunny.

On a good day, he is not the best and brightest there is. Similarly, when my wife and I have made similar plans, usually I will call her to "shore up" plans (make sure she didn't forget) and this gives her the opportunity to beg out then rather than having what happened to you.

Thank you all for your diversity of answers. I'm so over this incident at this point that I just have nothing more to say about it.
